Core Outcomes

The Marine Genetic Resources (MGR) Scientific Committee aims to raise awareness of the societal, ecological, and economic value of marine genetic resources by:

Encouraging collaborative research and open dialogue with diverse stakeholders

Bridging science and policy to support local and national priorities and implementation of multilateral agreements (e.g., BBNJ, Nagoya Protocol)

Supporting the development of an integrated MGR data pipeline, ensuring traceability and accessibility from field sampling to applications using digital and chemical data

Advising on issues of intellectual property and ethical access to marine genetic data and derivatives.
