22nd International Wildlife Law Conference

The work of the Ocean Data Working Group and the Marine Genetic Resources (MGR) Scientific Committee was presented at the 22nd International Wildlife Law Conference, organized by Stetson University College of Law’s Institute for Biodiversity Law and Policy, April 15 2026.

  • The session, titled “Data Challenges for Marine Biodiversity and Marine Biotechnology”, showcased the work of Working Groups under the Future Ocean Program, underlying the gap in the collection, standardization, and accessibility of marine biodiversity data along with the MGR developments in the BBNJ context.

The panel comprised of As. Professor Aspasia Pastra (Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute,
World Maritime University), Professor Frank Muller-Karger (University of South Florida,
College of Marine Science), Dr. Sophie Seeyave (CEO, Partnership for Observation of the
Global Oceans, POGO), and Professor Marcel Jaspars (Department of Chemistry, University
of Aberdeen).
